1. Design typeface based on favorite object
Typography Assignment 1:
Designing a typeface based on your favorite object
For this assignment, i chose a flower crown as my favorite object. Because i’m very fond of floral patterns and the pastel soft colors of the flower petals. In addition i also like the cursive and elegant vines that adorns the flower crown. Thus in my design, i have use the elements flowers: roses, sunflowers, hibiscus, leaves and vines to decorate my typeface. Moreover, i also pick serif fonts because it looks more graceful and gives out royal vibes. As for the color of the back ground i picked my favorite color- pantone color of the year 2016 : pastel blue(serenity) + pastel pink (rose quartz). The vibrant colors for the flowers are red , pink purple. Whereas the curvy classical vines and curls i ended up using white. Because the first try-using gold- makes the whole word dark which i dislike. After sketching, i outline with sakura 0.2 & 0.3marker. Then i use watercolor to color back ground and details on the decorations.
In conclusion, through the whole project, i learn the importance of spacing proportions and color choices in designing typography.
